Conditions, Requirements, and Legislation necessary for regulating land transportation services and activities (Trucks)
MOT, in conjunction with relevant authorities, pays considerable attention to developing conditions, requirements, and legislation necessary for regulating land transportation services and activities, with all its means, including trucks. The objective is to keep improving the services offered, open the market for competition, and sustain Qatar’s gains out of its huge road network investments.
With that in place, the axle load of all types of trucks has been specified in accordance with the engineering designs of road networks and axle load control stations have been installed on various roads to always ensure no damage is caused to the roads, something which can raise maintenance and operational costs. It is crucial to share such information for the good of the public interest.
Axel Loads
An axle is a central steel rod that bridges a pair of wheels of a truck or car. The axel load is the load that pressures the vehicle axel and moves from the axel wheels to the road.
Axel load is one of the most important matters taken into consideration in the field of road design engineering. Roads are designed in such a way that makes them capable of handling the maximum weight of each axel. Exceeding the maximum weight of the estimated load of an axel can damage the infrastructure, roads, and bridges, causing road cracks, depressions, and other failures.
Attached are truck weights, according to the number of axels, that are permitted in the State of Qatar as per the Qatar Traffic Law No. 9 of 2007, and which were mentioned in Article 86 of Chapter 12 regarding the rules and regulations of vehicle weights and loads.
